Santa Maria, Sal, Mar 21 (Inforpress) - The surf-foil competition made its debut on Thursday afternoon at the first stage of the 2025 World Tour in Ponta Preta, with Cape Verdean surfer Wesley Brito making it through to the semi-finals with victory in his heat.

In a heat in which he was up against Spain's Ancior Sosa, number 09 in the world ranking, and Britain's Leonel Schiel, ranked fifth in the world, Brito was the strongest, despite the lack of places, having already secured his passport to the quarter-finals.

With this victory, Wesley Brito, the 2023 World Champion in the wing-foil discipline, will face Jeffry Spencer on Friday, 17th in the world rankings for the sport, precisely the Canadian who beat the other Creole athlete in this competition this afternoon, Zany Guy.

Guy will start competing on Friday in the second round, with the USA's Marley Franco, Australia's Kiran Verma and Spain's Ancor Khater competing for a place in the quarter-finals,SR/JMV
