SCM Opens Voting for 4th SCM Awards; Gala Scheduled for 20 December in São Miguel

Praia, 09 Dec (Inforpress) – The Cape Verdean Society of Music (SCM) announced Monday that voting is now open for the fourth edition of the SCM Award, with the gala scheduled for 20 December in São Miguel, Santiago Island.

The ceremony will take place at the Porto de Calheta Historical and Cultural Centre, following the municipality’s request to host the celebration of Cape Verdean music.

Voting for the competing categories begins today at 22:30 and runs until 12 December. It is open exclusively to active SCM members through the organisation’s online portal.

According to gala organiser Anilda Cabral, each member may vote for “three songs per category”, with only works released in 2024 and containing “at least 50 per cent of lyrics in Cape Verdean Creole” being eligible.
