Praia, 16 June (Inforpress) – Scientific research should serve as the basis for developing strategies to prevent and respond to the impacts of climate change in Portuguese-speaking countries, the executive secretary of the International Academic Network of the Lusophone World argued today in Praia.

João Samartino was speaking during the VIII Symposium on Economics and Management of Lusophony, an event that runs until Friday, 19th, at the University of Santiago (US), under the motto “Economic Resilience and New Growth Models of Lusophone Countries in the Age of AI”.

According to João Samartino, the scientific conference features a number of presentations on the environment and sustainability, with the aim of analysing past experiences, identifying shortcomings and drawing lessons that can help societies to be better prepared.

This eighth edition, he argued, represents an opportunity to strengthen scientific cooperation between higher education institutions in the Portuguese-speaking world and to promote the sharing of knowledge in different areas.
