Mindelo, Apr 24 (Inforpress) – Each country and society must seek to find its own resources and alternatives for energy production to ensure energy security, argued the representative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Claudino Mendes.
The statement was made on the sidelines of a conference on sustainable energy taking place in São Vicente.
According to Claudino Mendes, coordinator of ECOWAS’s Sustainable Energy Skills Certification Programme, oil has become “a scarce commodity”, and “alternatives must be found” because “everything is tied to this resource”.
This, he explained, considering the current context marked by the war in the Middle East, which has contributed to rising fuel prices on the international market.
