Mindelo, Nov 27 (Inforpress) – The island of São Vicente hosted the 4th Meeting of Ministers of the Sea of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and culminated in the signing of the Mindelo Charter.
The meeting, held on Tuesday afternoon, in one of the hotels in the city of Mindelo, actually culminated in the signing of three documents, being the Mindelo Charter, according to the Minister of Maritime Economy, José Gonçalves, the “main document”, which reflects the commitments made by the members States attending,” in order to be able to pilot this great commitment which is the blue economy,” he said.
Accordingly, the Mindelo Charter is, according to the same source, a statement of commitment, which has all the “recitals” and follows on from previous statements. “It is a basic document and structure of each country will make to build on this collective commitment between our community,” he explained.
José Gonçalves assured that, in the case of Cabo Verde, there are “several projects”, being Cabo Verde Ocean Week, which hosted the ministerial meeting, one of them with all its facets, including bringing world-renowned lecturers to reflect on the sea.
