Mindelo, Nov 6 (Inforpress) – Some grouper caught by sustainable fishing in Santa Luzia are already being marketed and made available by restaurants in São Vicente Island and with “good results”, assured the assistant of this project implemented by Biosfera 1.
According to Jessica Matos told Inforpress, Biosfera 1 has had “good results” with this project, which aims to be a way of enhancing the fishing resource, targeting communities that use the Santa Luzia reserve as fishing ground.
The sustainable fishing project, according to the same source, started to be implemented in mid-September and since the beginning of October the commercialization of grouper fish, which can already be found in the fish market of City of Mindelo and with “very good” acceptance ”by the island’s restaurants.
“There has been good adherence, because both fishermen and restaurant owners have seen that there are many advantages to marketing this product. They saw that tourists, especially, are very focused on more sustainable and environmentally friendly products,” he said.
