São Vicente: Government announces activities on three islands to mark World Oceans Day

Mindelo, Jun 7 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Maritime Economy will hold a wide range of awareness activities on the islands of São Vicente, Sal and Santiago, this Saturday, 8th, on the World Oceans Day.

According to Inforpress findings, in São Vicente the activities will focus on Laginha beach, among which are exhibitions, cleaning campaigns on the beach and underwater and sports activities, among others, which will extend to the beaches of the islands of Santiago and Sal.

Under the slogan “Together we can protect and renew our ocean”, within the framework of the month, the beaches of Laginha (São Vicente) and Santa Maria (Sal) should receive a container in fish format whose main objective is to raise awareness among the population and to “get the message out” about the problem of plastic pollution in the oceans.

As usual and in such activities, the organization relies on partnerships between City Halls, environmental associations, NGOs and civil society, as the day’s activities aim to draw attention to the importance of the seas and oceans.
