Mindelo, Mar 20 (Inforpress) – The deputy delegate of the Ministry of Education in São Vicente said Thursday that the partnership between the Cabo Verdean Foundation for School Social Programmes (Ficase) and Cavibel has already made 6.000 ophthalmology consultations available to students in the country.
César Fortes, who is also the coordinator of Ficase on the island, spoke to the press when delivering 255 glasses to students in São Vicente’s Compulsory Basic Education with vision problems and families in need.
According to the official, the campaign for delivering of glasses called “See with good eyes”, which is in its sixth edition, was also carried out with the help of the Ruta de la Luz and Helena Barraquer foundations, from Spain, taking into account the problems of each student. From a total of 600 students, Spanish experts who came to Cabo Verde detected 255 with glasses needs, he added.
“Students with vision problems do not pay attention and do not perform well. Now, we hope they can have a greater advantage in the teaching-learning process. We know that a motivated student will help his family, his life and the whole community”, stressed César Fortes.
