São Nicolau: Ice production plant in Preguiça to boost the fisheries sector and fishermen’s incomes – minister

Ribeira Brava, 8 July (Inforpress) – Today, the Minister for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Eveline Ramos, stated that the installation of an ice production plant in Preguiça will improve fish preservation and increase fishermen’s income.

The statements were made following a technical visit to the Preguiça fishing pier, part of his first official trip to the island of São Nicolau since taking office in the new government.

The purpose of the mission is to monitor, on the ground, the implementation of public investment projects under the supervision of his ministry, as well as to listen to the concerns of local communities.

In the Preguiça area, Eveline Ramos assessed the progress of the installation work on the cooling system and the ice-making machine, infrastructure funded under the government’s emergency programme designed to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
