São Filipe, 7 July (Inforpress) – The City Council of São Filipe is preparing to launch a second tender to select the contractor to carry out the refurbishment works on the section of the access road to the Fogo Regional Prison.
The information was revealed by the mayor of São Filipe, Nuías Silva, during a meeting with the Minister for Justice, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Affairs and the Media, and he gave assurances that the process would be resumed more swiftly once the local authority had authorised the simplification of public procurement procedures.
The launch of the second tender follows the first procedure being declared unsuccessful because the bids submitted exceeded the budgeted amount.
‘We expect to have the contract signed within the next 15 to 30 days so that work can begin,’ said Nuías Silva, emphasising that the project is a priority due to the “advanced state of disrepair” of the access road to Betânia Civil Prison.
