Porto Novo, Jul 17 (Inforpress) – The Santo Antão Island receives, from now on, investments that exceed 600 million escudos in the construction and requalification of almost 30 kilometers of road in order to open locations with agricultural, tourist and fishing potential.
These are five projects, two of which are construction (Chã de Branquinho and Figueiral do Paul) and three rehabilitation projects (Cruzinha, Lagoa do Planalto Leste and Martiene) financed by the Government of Cabo Verde and which are launched today and Thursday by the Cabo Verdean Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva under his visit to Santo Antão.
The road linking Chã de Igreja to Cruzinha, in Ribeira Grande, with an extension of four kilometers, represents an investment of 150 million escudos and will be completed in six months, closing the section Manta Velha / Cruzinha.
The Espongeiro / Lagoa road, in the East Plateau, with a length of ten kilometers, will cost 107 million escudos and, according to a Government note, will have “a relevant role” in improving the accessibility conditions, especially during the rainy season.
