Porto Novo, June 20 (Inforpress) – The investments in the watersheds in Santo Antão are expected to reach, by 2023, an amount of 300 million escudos, focusing mainly on water mobilization, soil recovery and torrential correction, according to the definitive studies already completed.
These investments are planned under the first phase of the reorganization of the Ribeira das Patas and Jorge Luís / Ribeira da Cruz (Porto Novo) and Garça (Ribeira Grande) watersheds, which, by 2035, will cover the projects financed over four million escudos.
The definitive studies, carried out by the Tunisian company STUDI, with the financing of the Kuwait Fund, have already been validated, and the interventions should begin later this year, with the implementation of sub-basins.
In the case of Porto Novo, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA), according to the delegate in Porto Novo, Joel Barros, has already decided to proceed with the reorganization of the Lagoa watersheds in Ribeira das Patas and Miguel Pires in Jorge Luis / Ribeira da Cruz.
