Porto Novo, Mar 11 (Inforpress) – Santo Antão will receive more than 54 million escudos, as part of the drought mitigation and resilience programme in Cabo Verde, with Porto Novo being the municipality with the largest share in the entire archipelago.
According to Government Resolution 40/2020, published in the Official Gazette of Cabo Verde, Porto Novo will receive 38.000.000 escudos, for that reason, is the municipality most aided by the 2019/2020 drought mitigation and resilience program in Cabo Verde, “already submitted to international partners” for financing.
Ribeira Grande de Santo Antão and Paul will receive 11 million escudos and 5.5 million escudos, respectively, according to the Government Resolution, which explains that the plan arises to face the “accumulated effects of three consecutive drought years” in Cabo Verde.
At the national level, the program foresees an amount of 300 million escudos, also refers the Resolution, which explains that the purpose is “to contribute to the increase of resilience and adaptation to climate changes, through the reinforcement of the prevention and management capacity of situations of crisis resulting from droughts”.
