Santo Antão: Porto Novo can work as a “complement” to São Vicente cruise terminal – operators

Porto Novo, Aug 9 (Inforpress) – Tour operators in Santo Antão believe that the once-enlarged port of Porto Novo will be able to serve as a “complement” to the future São Vicente cruise terminal.

The Santo Antão Tourism Association even defends the need for the Government, within the framework of the investment program for Santo Antão, to “prioritize” the extension of the port of Porto Novo to receive larger cruise ships.

Tour operators therefore insist on the need to extend this port to complement the future cruise terminal of São Vicente, making it “more versatile”, capable of receiving not only cruises, but also yachts and sailboats.

The Government itself has admitted that Santo Antao can now receive up to 20 percent (%) of the ships that port the São Vicente terminal, but considers the extension of the port, built in 1962, although “a high priority” for Santo Antão is not part of the planned public investments for the island.
