Porto Novo, Oct 11 (Inforpress) – Ten families in Lagoa of East Plateau, Santo Antão, who lived in precarious housing conditions, had their homes recovered, thanks to the rehabilitation, requalification and accessibility program (PRRA), according to the associative leader, Manuel Pinto.
The ten houses are part of a batch of 25 rehabilitated houses (replacement of roofs that threatened to collapse) across the Eastern Highlands, under the PRRA, a government-funded program implemented through the City Halls.
In Porto Novo, a package of 66 degraded dwellings across the municipality is being rehabilitated through the PRAA. By 2020, more than 230 households will receive interventions under this program for an investment of 50 million escudos.
In addition to PRRA, Porto Novo has been awarded another housing program, financed by the municipality itself, which over the past three years has rehabilitated about 600 homes. By 2020, the City Hall of Porto Novo goal, according to the Mayor, Aníbal Fonseca, is to rehabilitate at least 800 homes in a municipality where an estimated 3.500 homes still need intervention.
