Santo Antão: Application to world heritage of agriculture has as trump cards the Paul valley and East Plateau perimeter

Porto Novo, May 13 (Inforpress) – The application of Santo Antão to the world heritage of agriculture, as part of the Important Agricultural Systems World Heritage Site (SIPAM), in preparation, presents the Paul valley and forest perimeter of the East Plateau as “trumps”.

The mission, which has been preparing the application process since July last year, is headed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA), which confirms that part of the East Plateau forest will be included in this application, in addition to the Paul valley.

SIPAM are sites rich in biodiversity and genetic resources that represent the livelihood of the populations, also presenting diversity of landscapes of high aesthetic value.

There are 37 recognized world heritage sites in the world, an initiative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), created during the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development.
