Praia, Sep 16 (Inforpress) – The village of Santana (Ribeira Grande de Santiago) have received its first sports field for the joy of its population, made up mostly of young people and also of the Mayor who fulfilled an “old promise”.
“Speaking to the press this Sunday, Manuel de Pina acknowledged that it was not easy to fulfill the wish of Santa Ana’s more than 1.500 residents, because, according to him, “it was difficult” to get adequate space for a sports field in that parish located at São João Baptista.
“Thanks to the studies done by our technicians, it was possible to identify this strategic place, so Santa Ana is to be congratulated”, welcomed the Mayor of Ribeira Grande de Santiago. According to the Mayor, given the nature of the ground, the construction of that sports infrastructure cost around 9.5 million escudos.
Asked if there is no risk that the sports field will be swallowed by floods, he said this hypothesis “is out of the question”.
