Santa Catarina: Three fires mobilize firefighters from three municipalities and reinforce warnings against wildfires

Assomada, July 31 (Inforpress) – Three fires registered today in Santa Catarina mobilized firefighters from three municipalities and reignited the authorities' alert about the dangers of controlled burns during the preparation of land intended for dryland farming.

The incidents were recorded in Engenhos, Achada Lém and Achada Fora, on the road to Ribeira da Barca, requiring the joint intervention of the municipal firefighters of Santa Catarina, Tarrafal, São Salvador do Mundo and Civil Protection.

Speaking to Inforpress, the commander of the Santa Catarina Municipal Fire Brigade, Norberto Monteiro, said that the fire in Engenhos had been quickly brought under control.

The fires in Achada Lém and Achada Fora, meanwhile, are still being tackled due to difficulties in accessing the area by vehicle, leading the teams to focus their efforts on clearing the surrounding area to halt the spread of the flames.
