Sal Island: Students from vulnerable families benefiting from school kits

Espargos, Sep 4 (Inforpress) – A group of 35 students from 5th to 12th grade from vulnerable families in the localities of Espargos, Palmeira and Pedra de Lume, in Sal, will benefit from school kits under the Scholarship Project.

The initiative, supported by the local Cabo Verdean Child and Adolescent Institute (ICCA), in partnership with the Nu Bai Association (ANB), a non-profit Cabo Verdean association, created since 2012 by a group of Italians residing in Sal, its main purpose is to support the children of the most disadvantaged families in the tourist island.

In addition to this group of more than three dozen boys among children, young people and adolescents, the project, according to ICCA coordinator Queila Soares, will also support, as far as possible, children from 1st to 4th grade, with kits for the school year 2019-2020.

The delivery of the school materials to the economically most vulnerable social classes, in order to guarantee their studies and the achievement of school success, during this school year, takes place in Wednesday afternoon at the Jorge Barbosa Library, in Espargos.
