Sal Island: Government wants to “roll up its sleeves” to make tourism a “driving force for social wellbeing”

Santa Maria, Sal Island, July 23 (Inforpress) – The Secretary of State for Tourism stated in Sal that it is necessary to “roll up our sleeves” and implement solutions to “transform revenues into well-being for the population,” following his first meeting with local institutions and authorities.

José Pimenta Lima’s first visit forms part of the programme he has drawn up for the island of Sal, which involves carrying out a detailed assessment of the situation in the tourism sector.

“We are aware of many of the problems, and we know that there are many problems that have already been identified in other initiatives. We need to adopt a very practical approach: roll up our sleeves and get out into the field to put things into practice,” said José Pimenta Lima, drawing on his previous experience in local government.

The minister emphasised that tourism cannot be developed in an isolated way, but must involve all sectors across the board, such as health, housing and transport, in line with the Government’s programme aimed at ensuring universal rights.
