Santa Maria, Jan 14 (Inforpress) – The mayor of Sal, Júlio Lopes, said on Sunday that assigning Ildo Lobo to Santa Maria Pedestrian Street is a more than fair tribute.
Júlio Lopes made these statements in the act of unveiling the plaque entitled “Rua Pedonal Ildo Lobo”, in the context of the celebrations of the Week of the Republic, witnessed by the widow of Ildo Lobo, in front of guests, residents and tourists.
The Republic Week, National Heroes Day, and Freedom and Democracy Day, celebrated on January 20th and 13th, respectively, is marked in Sal with a handful of activities, highlighting this tribute to Ildo Lobo, marked also with the performance of the “Os Tubarores” group, to which the singer was part.
“I think there would be no better name than Ildo Lobo to name this street. Ildo is from Sal, Cabo Verde and is international… Like this pedestrian that is from Sal, Cabo Verde, and international ”, he stressed, noting that this gesture coincides with the moment when the morna is being celebrated as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
