Research must be prioritized to build a safe and fair national health system – ERIS CEO

Praia, Feb 18 (Inforpress) – The chairman of the ERIS board of directors said that the construction of a solid, safe and fair national health system involves several areas of knowledge and action, and research should be prioritized.

The CEO of the Independent Health Regulatory Authority (ERIS), Eduardo Tavares, made this statement, this Monday, during the opening ceremony of the training that BERC-Luso promotes in the city of Praia, through the regulatory ethics training project in the African Portuguese Speaking Countries (PALOP), which is supported by the European Union and co-financed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

“The theme on which this training is carried out is too significant for us, because it is about recognizing the importance of the ethical and safety aspects of all types of clinical biomedical research involving human subjects”, he defended.

In view of these values, Eduardo Tavares said that if Cabo Verde wants to put the focus of attention on the security of citizens’ health, it must create conditions for health professionals to fully fulfill their job.
