Praia, 14 September (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, announced today that he is standing for re-election and stated that he is doing so with “serenity, confidence and a sense of a job well done”, following a five-year term marked “by hard work, closeness to the people and dialogue”.

“I am a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic of Cabo Verde,” Neves declared at a press conference announcing his candidacy, and he assured those present that he was moving forward with “an unbridled determination to continue serving our country together”.

Taking stock of his term of office, which began in 2021, the Head of State stated that he had fulfilled the pledge he had made to the Cape Verdean people at the time: “to unite, care for and protect Cabo  Verde”.

“It has been a successful term, marked by hard work, innovation, close engagement and a spirit of sharing. We stood together through both good times and difficult moments,” he said.
