President of the Republic to Appoint New Prime Minister on Wednesday After Consultations with Political Parties

Praia, Jun 02 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic will hold consultations with political parties on Wednesday, June 03, and on the same day appoint the new Prime Minister emerging from the legislative elections of May 17.

The information was provided to the press today by José Maria Neves on the sidelines of his visit to Ponta Belém to express solidarity with traders affected by Sunday’s fire.

“Tomorrow I will meet with the political parties represented in Parliament and, following those consultations, I expect to appoint the new Prime Minister later that same day,” José Maria Neves said.

Asked whether the transition would be peaceful, the President stated that there is no reason for concern, emphasizing that the peaceful transfer of power is a longstanding tradition in Cabo Verde.
