Praia, May 15 (Inforpress) - The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, today argued that the family should be at the centre of public policies, considering it an indispensable condition for a fairer, more resilient and sustainable future.
The head of state's position was expressed in a message alluding to International Family Day, marked this Thursday, 15 May, in which he highlighted the importance of the family as a place for education, acceptance and the transmission of fundamental values such as love, solidarity and respect.
‘We need to support families, ensuring that they have the right conditions to fulfil their educational mission,’ he said, stressing that valuing the family is fundamental to building a society based on the dignity of the human person.
In his message on the date, the President of the Republic warned of the impact of profound changes affecting family life, such as demographic change, urbanisation, the challenges of migration, technological transition and the effects of climate change.
