Praia, Feb 14 (Inforpress) – The Mobility and Parking Company of Praia (EMEP) has decided to exempt cars owned by people with reduced mobility from paying parking fees.
The measure, according to EMEP’s chairman, Victor Coutinho, is part of the company’s social policy, which is giving very special attention to the issue of mobility in the city of Praia.
“We have been financing the lowering of sidewalks where there are crosswalks, placing metal protection near schools and creating spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility, and in this sense we are doing the signaling of both vertical and horizontal roads, and we have decided, now, issue a badge to exempt these people from paying fees,” he said.
Victor Coutinho indicated, however, that the process of issuing a special card to users of these vehicles is currently underway, a work that is being carried out in partnership with the Cabo Verdean Federation of Disabled People’s Associations (FECAD) and with the Ministry of Health which is the competent entity to identify the person with reduced mobility.
