
Praia, 22 July (Inforpress) – Today, the Portugal’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation reaffirmed Cabo Verde’s status as a priority partner, pledging “full support” to mobilise new funding and back business investment in the country’s strategic sectors.
Ana Isabel Xavier, speaking at the opening of the Cabo Verde-Portugal Economic Forum in Praia, stressed that bilateral relations are based on "deep fraternity and trust," reiterating Lisbon's commitment to expanding economic cooperation through new financial instruments.
"‘Cabo Verde is, without a doubt, a priority partner for Portugal. The Portuguese Government is strongly committed to continuing this outstanding partnership,’ she said.
The official highlighted that Portugal continues to be the main foreign investor in the archipelago, revealing that Portuguese direct investment reached 360 million euros in 2024, with an average growth rate of 5.4% over the last five years.
