The project, sponsored by the Association for the Defense of Heritage in Mértola (Portugal), with the financing of Portuguese Cooperation, has been running for seven months and lasts for two years, although young farmers expect, by the beginning of 2020, to be producing for the national market.
The farmer’s representative in Casa de Meio, José Lima, explained to Inforpress that the project, which is in the preparation phase of the plots, is proceeding “at a good pace”, so from the beginning of 2020, young farmers will have the first results.
The project, which also has partners, the City Hall of Porto Novo and the Government of Cabo Verde, includes 30 young people, who have the opportunity to develop an agricultural activity, with the exploitation of seven hectares of land donated by the State of Cabo Verde.
