Porto Novo: Two additional ships will stopover in Santo Antão at the start of the cruise season

Porto Novo,  Nov 4 (Inforpress) – Two additional cruise ships have sailed to Santo Antão, an island has already received six medium and small-sized ships with “thousands of tourists” at this start of the October cruise season.

Santo Antão is thus asserting itself in the medium and small-sized ships market, with the port of Porto Novo appearing among the ports that receive “with some frequency” such vessels, thus boosting the tourism on the island, especially transport.

According to the National Port Administration Company (Enapor), at least four cruise lines – Compagnie du Ponant, Noble Caledonie Variety Cruise and Hapag-Lloyd, already calling virtually at all Cape Verdean ports with “some regularity”, including the Porto Novo port, in Santo Antão.

Tour operators from Santo Antão, despite the small size of the port, believe that this tourism segment will be “an important market” in Santo Antão, a view shared by the Government itself that admits the possibility of receiving the island up to 20 percent (%) of the approximately 200 thousand cruisers who will be expected to dock São Vicente each year with the construction of the terminal.
