Pests: Locusts invade people’s homes and farmland in Milho Branco

Praia, Sep 16 (Inforpress) – Photos published on social networks Saturday, 14th, show children filling buckets and 16 locusts bags on the balcony of a house in Milho Branco, municipality of São Domingos.

People report that the situation is “serious and worrying” and urge urgent action to be taken, not only to endanger crops but also public health.

“Please don’t leave it later, because it’s not just about agriculture, it’s about public health itself. We ask the rightful person to do something as soon as possible because the situation is in the extreme,” wrote a subscriber to the social network facebook.

A similar situation was seen on the land in Ribeirão Chiqueiro, also in the municipality of São Domingos, and there are reports of fields where maize cultivation has already been practically wiped out by the locusts, which, due to their small size, still have difficulty flying.
