Parliament: UCID calls for real action from the Government against inequality and precariousness in Cabo Verde

Praia, Feb 25 (Inforpress) – UCID Member of Parliament António Monteiro today warned that, despite economic growth and a reduction in unemployment, many families and young people continue to live in precarious conditions, urging the Government to adopt concrete measures and deliver tangible results for Cabo Verde.

António Monteiro made these statements during the parliamentary debate with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, on the 10 years of governance by the Movement for Democracy (MpD), a topic proposed by the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV).

He highlighted that Cabo Verde is showing positive signs, such as economic growth, an increase in the employment rate and its transition to upper-middle-income country status.

“We are opening this debate at a time when the country is showing positive signs. Economic growth, higher employment rates and even Cabo Verde’s transition to upper-middle-income status. But serious politics is not made solely with figures and titles; it is made first and foremost with the concrete lives of citizens and families, because beyond the reports there is a reality that cannot be glossed over,” he criticised.
