Praia, July 17 (Inforpress) – The parliamentary leader of the MpD (opposition) stated today that the government's program does not clarify the costs, sources of funding, or timetable for implementing the proposed measures, which hinders scrutiny of government action.
Luís Carlos Silva was speaking at the opening of the special session dedicated to the presentation and evaluation of the Government's Program for the 11th Legislature and to the voting on the motion of confidence.
The MP argued that governing requires much more than simply making promises; it involves making commitments, and that means accepting scrutiny as well as setting targets.
According to the same source, “a transparent government sets targets, defines indicators, commits to timetables, quantifies results, specifies costs, explains sources of funding and establishes accountability mechanisms”, enabling citizens to ask tomorrow “objectively whether or not what was promised has been delivered”.
