Praia, Apr 24 (Inforpress) – The African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV, opposition) alleged today in parliament that citizens of African countries are being “expelled” in “humiliating conditions” from the international airports of Praia and Sal.
The PAICV parliamentary group referred to this matter in a political statement, voiced by the deputy for the African diaspora, Gisele Lopes, on this last day of the parliamentary session in April.
The deputy stated that the problem has been recurring for several years and now “more frequently and without any clear justification or respect for human rights”.
“We are talking about the issue of deportation, which is happening in silence and with serious consequences. While young Africans are being treated as suspects, European passengers are crossing the border without any obstacles,” said the MP, lamenting the situation.
