
Praia, Mar 26 (Inforpress) - Zilda Oliveira, a UCID member of parliament, said today that in Cape Verde, women, as a social group, are still in conditions of ‘inequality’ in society.
‘Although [women] have a longer life expectancy than men, they suffer more from various health problems,’ said the woman elected on the lists of the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID-opposition).
She made these remarks during a debate with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, on the subject is ‘Public policies aimed at Cape Verdean women’.
According to her, the prevalence of HIV/AIDS is ‘higher’ in women.
