Praia, July 6 (Inforpress) - Politician Orlando Dias announced today that he is withdrawing his candidacy for the leadership of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) and declared his support for Paulo Veiga's candidacy for the party's presidency.
The announcement was made today during a press conference in Praia, where Orlando Dias explained that his decision stems from his conviction that Paulo Veiga currently possesses the "best conditions" to lead the MpD and guide the party into a new political cycle.
According to him, Paulo Veiga is a leader who is "simple, humble, open to dialogue, and capable of listening to party members," and who also has the ability to strengthen the party's internal organization and ensure its financial sustainability.
Orlando Dias recalled that, in 2023, he had already expressed his willingness to withdraw his candidacy if a member emerged who was better suited to promote a broad regeneration movement within the MpD.
