Assomada, May 20 (Inforpress) – Immigration in Cabo Verde has not managed to offset the labour shortage caused by the emigration of Cabo Verdeans from the agriculture, livestock, fisheries and transport sectors, a situation that concerns producers in North Santiago.
In the agricultural fields of North Santiago, where for years agriculture, livestock and transport supported entire families, a silent sense of absence is now growing.
The continuous departure of Cabo Verdeans abroad, especially young people of working age, is leaving difficult-to-fill gaps at a time when immigration into the country is following different paths.
In rural areas of Santiago, farmers report increasing difficulties in finding workers for activities related to farming and livestock breeding.
