National Journalist’s Day: AJOC asks journalists to reflect more on the professional performance

Praia, Jan 6 (Inforpress) – The president of the Journalists Association of Cabo Verde (AJOC) called on Sunday for a greater union of the class and also asked journalists to take advantage of this national day to reflect on the professional performance.

Carlos Santos was speaking in a statement to Inforpress on the occasion of the celebration of January 5, National Journalist’s Day, in which he left a message of confidence and determination to journalists, who, for the union leader, have an “important” role to play in society.

“There is no consolidated and rigorous democracy without strong and accurate journalism. Therefore, journalists should take advantage of their national day to reflect on our profession, to recover what are the essential pillars of an impartial, objective, rigorous journalism based on ethics and deontology,” he said.

This radio journalist also asked the class to reflect on the working conditions made available to them, in order to better perform their profession or mission. Faced with the many challenges of the class and the problems make it difficult to exercise their profession, Carlos Santos called for the union of journalists, since, in his opinion, the “class union” could serve as a means of “pressure for these questions to be addressed”
