Praia, Jan 21 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verdean singer Mayra Andrade is among the 42 female personalities who stood out during 2019 and competes for the prize, an initiative created by the Portuguese magazine Lux, in the music category with more two personalities.
According to the website Lux.pt, it was during a lunch in Lisbon, Portugal, that the jury debated and selected 42 women, three in each of the 14 areas, who stood out throughout 2019.
Mayra Andrade is nominated in the Music category and disputes the title with the Portuguese pianist, 75 years old and with an artistic career that dates back to the late 1940s, Maria João Pires, and Portuguese fado singer Mariza, 46 years old. According to Lux, the Cabo Verdean singer Mayra Andrade, 34, who through her latest album “Manga” has gone up to several Portuguese stages and will have the opportunity to sing at Olympia, in Paris, in April, is associated with movement that, taking Lisbon as a stage, made African sounds revive.
This initiative to distinguish female personalities has been going on for 16 consecutive years, and the election of male personalities going to its ninth edition, whose nominees will be known on February 20th, followed by voting by Lux readers.
