Praia, May 20 (Inforpress) – The horse “Invasor”, commanded by the jockey Valdemar Gonçalves Sousa, from Santo Antão, won Sunday the horse race in Praia, trophy conquered for the second consecutive time in that race that fits in the festivities of the municipality.
“Invasor” won in the category of Thoroughbred horses (PS) or foreigners, and his jockey was entitled to a cup and a cash prize of 210.000 escudos and a winning jockey trophy.
Despite winning, for the second consecutive time, Valdemar Sousa, who is from Porto Novo, but lives in Boa Vista, told Inforpress that he was surprised by this achievement because of problems he had to face.
“It was a great race and I was not expecting my horse to win the race because he had a lot of problems, but fortunately we were preparing it until we managed to win and today I am very happy to be a two time champion here in the City of Praia”, said the 22-year-old, who has also won trophies at the festivities of Paul and Ribeira Grande municipalities.
