MpD contradicts statements by PAICV leader questioning INE data

Praia, Jan 8 (Inforpress) – The secretary general of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), Miguel Monteiro, has countered accusations by the PAICV leader (opposition party) who questioned data presented by the National Institute of Statistics ( INE) regarding employment.

The Cabo Verdean African Independence Party (PAICV) President Janira Hopffer Almada questioned this Monday the 2019 governance “indicators and gains” and challenged the current unemployment rate of 10.7% , because it understands that the Government does not inform the country in which islands or municipalities these “supposed jobs, sectors and activities” were generated.

“But the height was it questioned the data presented by INE, regarding employment, saying that professional internships are not jobs,” said Miguel Monteiro at a press conference in Praia, summoned to restore the “truth of the facts”.

According to the MpD’s leader, in the opinion of the leader of the main opposition party, the Government should not have a policy of professional internships and training, when, according to him, the lack of experience and training are the two major constraints raised by the young people in access to employment.
