Praia, July 8 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture, Creative Industries, Youth and Sports, António Duarte, admitted today that the location of the National Archives of Cabo Verde (ANCV) near the average sea level has serious infiltration problems.
The statements were made to Inforpress at the end of a visit to the National Archives, as part of a program of visits to institutions, services and infrastructures under the ministry's supervision, with the aim of understanding the reality of each structure and monitoring its operation.
According to the minister, taking into account the location of the country’s historic buildings – many of which are close to mean sea level – they are prone to problems caused by capillary seepage.
The minister explained that these infiltrations, originating from the foundations, can compromise and pose a risk to the preservation of the documentary heritage, but assured that there are technical solutions that can be implemented.
