Praia, Oct 28 (Inforpress) – Minister for Foreign Affairs Luís Filipe Tavares believes that the mandate the European Commission has received from member states to negotiate short-stay visas with Cabo Verde is the “culmination of the Cabo Verdean diplomacy work”.
“The mandate the [European] Commission has received from the Member States is important, as it is a necessary condition for us to start negotiations on facilitating short-stay visas for Cabo Verdean citizens who want to enter the Schengen space as visitors,” said the head of Cabo Verdean diplomacy.
Luis Filipe Tavares made these remarks in statements to Inforpress, from the city of Sochi, Russia, as part of the Cabo Verdean delegation, headed by the President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, who participated in the first Russia-Africa Summit.
For the official, the decision of the European Union is the “culmination of the Cabo Verdean diplomacy work with the member states”.
Today, the minister said, Cabo Verde is “much better known in the 28 member states [of the European Union], particularly in Eastern European countries that did not know us as well as others.”
