Maio: Works committee raises funds to finish São José Chapel

Porto Inglês, 07 May (Inforpress) - The Works Committee of the Chapel of São José, located in the village of Calheta, on the island of Maio, is promoting a fundraising campaign to complete the finishing touches of the temple, which is currently at an advanced stage of construction.

According to Terezinha Mendes, a member of the committee, the work is already ‘well advanced’ and the focus is now on acquiring mosaics to cover the infrastructure.

"We've already completed all the paving and we want to embellish the chapel with mosaics. People can donate money to help buy the materials and pay the workers," he explained.

Terezinha Mendes also highlighted the spirit of solidarity of the local community and the diaspora, who have actively contributed to the realisation of the project since the beginning, and the committee hopes to maintain this support until the chapel is completed.
