Porto Inglês, Sep 10 (Inforpress) – Today, the Mayor of Maio called today for regular air links with the islands of Sal and Boa Vista and a daily maritime connection with the city of Praia to boost the island's development.

Speaking to the press, Rely Brito identified transport as the main challenge to the development of Maio, and argued that the lack of regularity and predictability of transport links hampers economic activity, tourism and the ability to attract investment.

“The biggest challenge for Maio is transportation. Without predictability, it is impossible to think about the island’s development, the economy, and tourism,” he stated.

Rely Brito therefore considered the establishment of a daily maritime link between Maio and the city of Praia a priority, in order to ensure “greater regularity and predictability” for the travel of the population and economic operators.
