Maio Island: MpD warns of “worrying signs” in the management of the municipal council

Porto Inglês, Apr 16 (Inforpress) – The leader of the MpD municipal group in Maio considered today that the first 100 days of the city council management led by Rely Brito have been marked by “suspensions of protocols, cuts in support and threats to employees”.

At a press conference today in Porto Inglês, Zacarias Freire warned of what he described as governance based on “unilateral decisions, without dialogue or transparency”, putting “at risk the progress achieved on the island in recent years”.

“Since the beginning of the mandate, we have been warning of worrying signs of a management centered on authoritarianism, where the logic of ‘I can and I  order’ prevails, completely ignoring the democratic principles of consultation, active listening and citizen participation”, denounced the municipal leader of the MpD.

According to Freire, the first 100 days of the current city council executive, led by the PAICV, have been marked by the “total abandonment” of ongoing works inherited from the previous administration and by “arbitrary decisions” that, according to the party, raise “serious concerns” about the future of the island.
