Luxembourg increases cooperation funding to €100 million ‘due to good governance’ – minister

Mindelo, Feb 12 (Inforpress) – Luxembourg’s Sixth Indicative Cooperation Programme (PIC VI) 2026–2030 with Cape Verde has increased from €75 million to €100 million, attributed to “good governance and effective use of funds.”

The assessment was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, José Luís Livramento, who on Wednesday afternoon accompanied Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Xavier Bettel, on visits to the Coast Guard and the SOS Social Centre in São Vicente.

According to Livramento, the visits were intended to allow the Luxembourg minister to see “with his own eyes” how the funds have been spent.

“I believe it is clear that good governance has also led Luxembourg itself to increase, on several occasions, the amount of the indicative cooperation programme,” Livramento said, referring to the rise from €75 million to €100 million following the agreement signed Tuesday in Mindelo.
