The legislation, which appears within the framework of the law of grogue, passed in 2015, which provides for the regulation of “other alcoholic beverages” in Cabo Verde, such as liqueurs, punch, was this Wednesday under discussion in Santo Antão in first socialization of the proposal, an initiative by ERIS.
In addition to producers, the meeting was also attended by municipal and health authorities and deconcentrated services, which, among other issues, emphasized the need to strengthen the supervision of alcoholic beverages production, in order to safeguard public health.
ERIS counted on the partnership of the National Directorate of Industry, Commerce and Energy in the preparation of the legal regime proposal, that, for the first time in Cabo Verde, typifies the alcoholic drinks and also establishes the general principles and the technical requirements related to its production and marketing.
The draft law, which after socialization will be submitted to the Government for its approval by the Council of Ministers, establishes, on the other hand, the principles and requirements related to its approval, registration, manufacture, standardization, packaging / bottling, presentation, labeling and marketing.
