Lack of resources is affecting the activities of the Cape Verdean Association of the Deaf – vice-president

Praia, 7 August (Inforpress) – The lack of financial resources continues to hamper the organisation of recreational and cultural activities designed to promote sign language, warned Adélsia Tavares, vice-president of the Cape Verdean Association of the Deaf, today in Praia.

The official made these statements to Inforpress at the close of a week of cultural and recreational activities that brought together more than 20 deaf children, teenagers, and young adults to promote social integration and combat isolation.

“It was a week full of activities, including dance, music and theatre in sign language, as well as a field trip. All of this has provided these children and teenagers with light-hearted moments of interaction and learning,” she emphasised.

Adélsia Tavares added that the meeting served to encourage development, boost self-esteem and promote social interaction amongst peers and equal opportunities.
