Praia, 3 June (Inforpress) – Journalist Carlos Santos argued today that it is necessary to examine the role of the media and young people’s disengagement from politics in order to understand why this is happening.

These comments were made to Inforpress during his participation in a panel discussion on “Political Communication and Democracy”, which took place at the University of Santiago as part of the programme for the Departmental Weeks organised by the Department of Education, Philosophy and Humanities (DCEFL) and the Department of Legal and Social Sciences (DCJS).

According to Carlos Santos, it is necessary to understand whether the media is, in fact, failing to bring young people closer to politics.

"The way we mediate election campaigns, often based solely on the candidates' statements, can contribute to this disconnect," he questioned.
