Pedra Badejo, 29 July (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, stated on Tuesday that it is not yet time to discuss a possible bid for re-election, emphasising that his priority remains focused on fulfilling his presidential term.

When asked by journalists, on the sidelines of his working visit to the municipality of Santa Cruz, about a possible bid for a second term, the Head of State declined to announce any decision.

At the moment, I’m not worried about the candidacies,’ he said.

José Maria Neves stated that his focus is on continuing the work of the presidency, promoting unity amongst Cape Verdeans, preserving the stability of the country’s institutions, and addressing the challenges facing the country at the start of a new government term.
